About the wine
A new vintage of Stephens showstopping single estate red from Calaveras
- This best-selling Black Label from Stephen is back and it’s tasting IMMENSE. This is the perfect hefty red to keep around for all occasions.
- The fruit comes from a single estate vineyard at 2400 feet above sea level in the Sierra Foothills. So you've got an extra long growing season that lets the fruit reach a perfectly balanced ripeness.
- Stephen swears this wine is best enjoyed with a hefty rib steak grilled over coals.
Best before
I'd buy it when released and let it age for another 3 months before opening a bottle. Then the wine should be tasting very nice for the next five years.
Serving advice
I would let the wine breathe for about 30 minutes before serving the bottle.
Food match
Share with friends while feasting on braised short ribs and wild mushroom polenta.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stephen Millier
- Stephen is no stranger to gold medals, but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- We offered Stephen some Angel funding to set aside some of his favorites wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for us, and he jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the over-looked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.
