Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of wines sold at other companies, that have received the same customer ratings or awards from third parties.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
A rare single-variety red from historic vineyards
It may be old vine, but this rare red isn’t old fashioned. With aromas and flavors like bright red cherry, savory herbs and a finish oh-so soft and smooth, you’ll be saying more Mourvèdre, please.
Thanks to Angel funding, Macario sourced his grapes from 4th generation winegrowers in Oakley, California who cherish this grape style usually found in France and Spain. The grapes were handpicked from legacy head-trained vines in sandy soils – some 130 years old!
At your incredible Angel price, this limited-production, old-vine red will be gone in a flash!
Best before
This needs time. It is a baby and will be best in about 2-3 years.
Serving advice
Open and decant for about an hour.
Food match
Any hearty meat stew would be perfect.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Macario Montoya
Macario worked his way up from cellar worker to Napa and Sonoma star winemaker – leading by example for other Latino winemakers.
While Macario is Napa-based, he’s garnered attention for his Mediterranean-style wines in California – his Lodi blends and especially his Macario Montoya reds from Contra Costa’s heritage vineyards – whose label depiction of the old vines shows off the artistic talents of his brother, Maceo Montoya.
With your support, Macario’s reach knows no bounds – he is Sin Fronteras – without borders. He gives back tenfold, creating opportunities for underrepresented Latino winemakers like him through The Montoya Opportnity Fund
