About the wine
The most sought-out Cabernet vineyard you've ever supported
- Rutherford is the kind of world-renowned sub-appellation that instantly raises the price of a Napa Cab by $20-$40 because the well-drained gravelly soils with volcanic deposits lend such a characteristic quality to big, bold Cabernet grown there. And this vineyard is the best of the best.
- Matt is an extremely well-connected winemaker in the Napa Valley, from his time overseeing the winemaking at Beringer, Stags' Leap and others. So he pulled some strings and got some of the most insanely sought-out fruit in Rutherford. But there's a catch.
- This vineyard is so famous we'd normally have to pay $5,000 just to name it on the label. Matt decided NOT to pay $5,000 for bragging rights so you get the same $8,000/ton fruit without the celebrity vineyard's name on the label.
Best before
We've aged it for a year, but the wine will greatly benefit from aging 2-3 more years. Wait until 2017 if you can and it will still taste robust and be focused on ripe fruit. If you wait even longer, the wine can develop more aged flavors.
Serving advice
Please don't open casually. I highly advise decanting or pouring a glass and letting the bottle breathe for an hour.
Food match
Slow cooked short ribs, falling off the bone. A rich, creamy sauce.
Contains sulphites
