About the wine
Power-packed red that rates up there with the best Riojas
- Huge and seriously silky all at once. As big as the Cabernet wines Macario is so famous for making, with the velvety smoothness that you can expect from a Tempranillo.
- Macario's found his specialty niche. He knows Cab inside out and he loves working with Spanish grapes in Californian soil. This is the blend he was born to make.
- This incredibly unique blend is an explosion of goodness. Dark and brooding, yet elegant and sophisticated, and ready for a feast!
Best before
5-7 years. If you must open right away a good 1-2 hour decant in best.
Serving advice
Decant 1-2 hours
Food match
Locally sourced, grass-fed ribeye. Season with a generous amount of salt and pepper, and grill to your liking. Fire-roast some potatoes... and you are set for a feast!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Macario Montoya
Macario worked his way up from cellar worker to Napa and Sonoma star winemaker – leading by example for other Latino winemakers.
While Macario is Napa-based, he’s garnered attention for his Mediterranean-style wines in California – his Lodi blends and especially his Macario Montoya reds from Contra Costa’s heritage vineyards – whose label depiction of the old vines shows off the artistic talents of his brother, Maceo Montoya.
With your support, Macario’s reach knows no bounds – he is Sin Fronteras – without borders. He gives back tenfold, creating opportunities for underrepresented Latino winemakers like him through The Montoya Opportunity Fund
