David Cook's Story
"My love for this industry is deep-seated and I have always dreamt of running my own vineyard and producing my own label. In 1992, along with my father Barry (who has a horticultural background) and my mother Sue, my dream came true when we pulled together our resources to establish Coobara vineyards on our family property.
Before that, I was a horse-breaker. But after a bad injury my doctor advised me I may end up a cripple by the age of 30. This was really the powering force in my following my true passion; wine.
I love tasting and seeing the end product from all the hard work that goes into making a wine! I also love the smell of grapes as they rattle through a harvester to the opening of a barrel and smelling fresh oak.
What's the most extreme thing I've done for the love of wine? Well, working four jobs to pay for picking, bottling, processing and oak. Which I still do! But with the support of my family by my side, my wife Wendy, Father & Mother Barry & Sue and my dog Tiggy, it's not a problem!"
