About the wine
Daryl owns 20 acres of his favorite grapes, thanks to you
- "Thanks to you, I own this vineyard and get to do everything I want to preserve quality," explains Daryl. "I thoroughly researched the best areas in Australia to grow fruity, expressive Sauvignon, and chose this specific appellation and area to plant 20 acres of my absolute favorite SB clone."
- Because you took a superstar 8-time winemaker of the year and let him make his dream white, you get it for a song.
- "Summer in a glass my wife calls it," Daryl says. "It's simply delicious and mouthwatering. It's crisp, relatively low alcohol, and has bright, evident & alluring citrus, grapefruit, apple and melon characters. It's all about the grape and the fruit characters they naturally attain."
Best before
Drink now and don't age. I enjoy this wine best when it's young and fresh where the fruit characters shine through. It will age well for 2-5 years, but you will lose its bright character.
Serving advice
Serve chilled and make sure you have another bottle in the refrigerator. The biggest complaint I get with this wine is that there is never enough in the bottle. It goes down so easilyÂ…be warned!
Food match
Sushi, salads and any seafood. Shrimp on the barbie!!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Daryl Groom
- Meet Daryl... a 35-year veteran of the wine biz, credited eight-times as Winemaker of the Year, named by Food & Wine Magazine as one of 11 visionaries to change the world of wine... and oh yes, he served up his wines at the Oscars and Emmys two years in a row! Safe to say, the man's accomplished.
- Working as the senior white and red winemaker at Penfolds, his 1986 Penfolds Grange was arguably one of the top 3 Granges ever made - 98 points from Spectator and Robert Parker. And now that he works for you, he loves showing off wines from Australia and his California home – Sonoma and Russian River Valley.
- Thanks to your funding, Daryl can focus on doing what he loves – making great wine and sharing great wine. And he selects the best barrels he needs and farms to the best quality. "You are a gift from God to a winemaker," he says. "I knew there were Angels in heaven!"
–– "Groom made Penfolds' flagship red, Grange Hermitage, which has become Australia's most collectible wine." --Wine Spectator, on the $500+ Grange
–– "Groom is my choice for Winemaker of the Year " -- LA Times, Dan Berger
–– "Daryl Groom. The human Tornado. " -- Bill Rice, Chicago Tribune
