About the wine
Smooth and stunning red loaded with the finest flavors of the Sierra Foothillls
- This sultry and smooth Black Label red blend is drenched in dark berry and red fruit flavors, with Stephen’s signature rich, long-lasting finish that’s made this red an Angel-favorite every single vintage.
- Your support helped Stephen bring together six stunning red varieties growing in mountain vineyards nestled in the heart of Calaveras County, and blend them seamlessly for what he calls “a Bordeaux-style red with a unique Calaveras twist.”
- Stephen says this luscious red goes great with all kinds of sauce-based dishes. Personally, he’s partial to a slow-simmered cassoulet with its combination of richly flavored meats and beans that perfectly complement this wine’s layers of juicy flavor.
Best before
This wine will age quite comfortably for the next few years and just keep on getting better.
Serving advice
When young this bottling of Red Angel needs a little breathing time to stretch out and show it's best. Try letting it breathe for about 30-40 minutes after opening.
Food match
I always like to pair my Red Angel with something with a great sauce. I'm partial to a slow simmered cassoulet with its combination of richly flavored meats and beans and cooking time. On the other hand I thoroughly enjoy it with grilled duck breast, just like I enjoyed on my first trip to Bordeaux.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stephen Millier
- Stephen is no stranger to gold medals, but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- We offered Stephen some Angel funding to set aside some of his favorites wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for us, and he jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the over-looked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.
