About the wine
Big, rich red from California's Gold Country
- Overflowing with black plum, berry and a touch of spiced mocha flavors all pulled together with Stephen's rich signature finish, it's no surprise that this red sells out with every vintage.
- He combines 6 red varieties from mountainside vineyards in the heart of Calaveras County for what he calls "a Bordeaux-style red with a unique Calaveras twist."
- A favorite pairing for this rich red is a slow-simmered cassoulet with red meats and beans to complement the concentrated, complex flavors in this wine.

This will age quite nicely for the next few years and beyond.
Serving advice
I like to open this wine up as we take the first sip of our evening's starter wine. That way we aren't rushed to get it going.
Food match
I'm partial to a slowly simmered cassoulet with its combination of meats and beans. I also enjoy it with grilled duck breast, like during my first trip to Bordeaux.

Meet the winemaker - Stephen Millier
- Stephen is no stranger to gold medals, but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- We offered Stephen some Angel funding to set aside some of his favorites wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for us, and he jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the over-looked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.
