Michaud Columbia Valley Summation Red 2016
About the wine
A Columbia Valley red bursting with flavor
- Cabernet dominates this red blend and packs it with a punch of raspberry fruit roll-up “so good you'd wish you could chew on it,” the Michauds say. Spot the cherry and chocolate on the way to a juicy finish.
- Your funding helped Justin and Katy get their hands on some special grapes from Walla Walla and Horse Heaven Hills, making a rich blend from two of Washington's most standout regions.
- If you have the patience for it, let this wine stretch out for a few minutes after opening a bottle. It’ll really bring out the flavor! Grill some veggies and a hearty steak while you wait.
Best before
Well it is a Cab-based red blend so there is no reason it shouldn't age nicely for 10 years. I think we tend to enjoy our wines between 4-7 years, but have been rewarded for waiting longer on occasion. Washington is still a young region, so we are still figuring out what ages best. This vintage is showing well right now and has some promise to age.
Serving advice
I would definitely wait a couple weeks after shipment to open this one. It is probably going to benefit from some air when opening, but will hopefully taste great from minute one. It has lots of fruit upfront and finishes pretty smoothly.
Food match
I'm thinking some nice Comte cheese, and maybe aged cheddar with a fresh baguette. Of course it will pair well with red meat and maybe some nice grilled vegetables.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Justin & Katy Michaud
Katy and Justin Michaud are two of Washington's most talented young winemakers – the folks behind award-winning wines at Canoe Ridge, Kim Crawford, Covey Run and Coyote Canyon.
They’ve had huge success individually - and thanks to Angels, this husband-wife duo are creating their own wines together (for the first time ever!) They’re psyched to join forces and introduce more spectacular cool-climate wines to Angels across the US.
Washington produces vibrant, fruit-driven wines that you just can't capture in California – the moment we tasted Katy and Justin's wines we knew we were onto something that would give Napa a run for its money!
