About the wine
This barrel-aged Australian Cab is a glass of class
- This elegant Cabernet is stylish and sophisticated — a full-bodied red that also has a delightful freshness to it and a touch of spice from over a year of barrel aging. Thirsty yet?
- The Gentle Annie Vineyard is set in the heart of Central Victoria, where dry conditions make the vines struggle, giving Sam a low-yielding crop of smaller grapes packed full of extra concentrated flavors.
- Sam says, "This is a ripper red meat wine. Char grilled steak and a glass of this Cabernet is just the thing for me!"
Best before
This wine has the fresh acid and highish tannin load which will give it a long life. It's an impressive wine now, but will reward cellaring.
Serving advice
I would open the bottle and get straight into it, but if you have the time and patience it will open up a little if left to breath for an hour or two.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Sam is one of our Australian All-Stars. He garnered lots of attention as the award-winning winemaker at Plunkett Fowles.
- But Plunkett Fowles hit rough waters and Sam wasn't sure he'd be able to stay in the wine business...until he became Angel funded. Your support put his startup on the map.
- Now Sam is off to the races – with the same dedication to quality winemaking that won so many accolades at Plunkett Fowles – and none of the bother about sales and marketing.
