About the wine
Creamy, world-class Chardonnay straight from the California coast
- Luscious fruit flavors of apple and pear lead the way in this coastal Chardonnay, with a touch of tropical fruits and a generous creamy texture that lasts through the long, luxurious finish.
- Winemaker Jonathan Pey selected his Chardonnay from a small but mighty subregion of Monterey on the California coast, where the cool Pacific winds are perfect for helping these delicate white grapes ripen slowly and evenly for maximum flavor complexity.
- This lush, creamy, barrel-aged Chardonnay is generous in more ways than one – once this current vintage sells out Jonathan will donate $1 to the Climate Registry for every bottle Angels purchase!
Best before
I'd say its super enjoyable tonight, but if you want to squirrel away a couple bottles for next year that could be fun as well. With a year or so bottle age, it will show more hazelnut aromas and a bit more texture too.
Serving advice
Like any serious wine, giving it some oxygen by opening it before serving is helpful. Decanting it is also helpful (yes even for white wines). The oxygen will help open up the wine so it can really show its stuff.
Food match
This Chardonnay grows near the chilly Pacific Ocean, and as such, salmon or other fatty fish pairs perfectly with it.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jonathan Pey
-
Sonoma winemaker Jonathan Pey spent his early teen years in France — and it’s impressed upon him a desire to craft wines that unite Old World wine flair with ”why not?!” American attitude.
-
He’s topped Wall Street Journal’s wine lists, impressed critics like Robert Parker, and auctioned off precious coveted bottles at Premiere Napa Valley, but he’s most excited to make wines with Angels. Why?
-
In early 2020, Angels supported Jonathan through the COVID Relief Fund, so he could keep his independent operation running for harvest. You loved his Spicerack wines so much, we asked him to share more. He’s up for the challenge — and you’re guaranteed delicious rewards.
