Yian Lu
USA
She's powerful, surprising and full of life - just like her Central Coast wines
Yian says it was a series of lucky strikes that got her into wine. But luck aside, it’s talent and drive that got this powerhouse the spotlight in California's Central Coast. And Angels like YOU, of course!
Working with her mentor (and fellow Angel-funded winemaker) Sharon Weeks, Yian's the Assistant Winemaker for a beautiful winery outside of Paso Robles. And now with your support, she has the freedom to make her own Paso reds, whites, and Rosés – they're her first-ever!
Born and raised in Taipei, Yian is proud to represent her Taiwanese heritage in her wines for Angels – and show off her own personal style. "Ten years ago, I never would have imagined that this was my life,” Yian said, smiling wide. “But thanks to Angels, I’m living my dream.”
Yian Lu's Story
Yian's Story
Yian Lu spent years in the hustle and bustle of finance, working in banking as a loan officer in lower Manhattan for over 10 years. But she developed a passion for winemaking so strong, she ended up leaving her MBA behind for a new grand adventure – that started by leaving New York City for Australia in 2010 to study winemaking. By 2011, she’d made her very first vintage of wine in Yarra Glen, and the girl was hooked.
With the help of her mentor (and fellow Angel-funded winemaker) Sharon Weeks, Yian spends her days putting the finishing touches on hundreds of wines as the Assistant Winemaker for a beautiful Central Coast winery just outside of Paso. And with your support, she’s crafting her own Paso Robles wines, too.
Yian says it was a series of lucky strikes that got her into wine. But luck aside, it’s talent and drive that got this Taiwanese powerhouse the spotlight. Her wines are full of life – from crisp Pinot Grigio to her full, easy-drinking Paso Cabernet, Yian is excited to introduce Angels to Paso wines – including powerful, surprising styles people might not yet know. Sounds just like her!
Born and raised in Taipei, Yian is proud to represent her Taiwanese heritage in her wines for Angels – and show off her own personal style.
“Ten years ago, I never would have imagined that this was my life,” Yian said, smiling wide. “But thanks to Angels, I’m living my dream.”
Yian's Archangels
It's amazing how your tastebuds mature! I've gone from Boone's Farm to the best there is here at Naked Wines - all in less than 5 decades! During that time period, I've been a professional rider & trainer, an English/Social Studies teacher, a travel agent, a coordinator for a national business barter organization, a support staff and a trainer for a NYS government agency - and the owner of an equine video & photo company. I've lived/worked in NY, KY, TX, SC, OR - and back to NY. I've also started two groups: 1. Northeast State of Wine, so we in this area can share the fun! Please come join in - our wineries create deliciousness from grapes, apples, pears, berries...you name it! - and 2. Sharing Made Easy - LINKS.. - where wine-related info, either links or copied & pasted info (with credit, if appropriate) can be shared. This is to help others find info that is frequently discussed - until our techies (or NW corp) set up an efficient Search feature. No comments - just links/info.
Since my better half and I have found Naked Wines it has taken us to a different level! A different level in food preparation a different level in social interaction and a different level in just plain old enjoyment of life! Our journey has just begun and we have learned to slow down, breathe and go to places we never thought we would! Thank you Naked Wines for enlightening us and giving us the chance to be part of a wonderful creation of superb wines! Cheers!
