About the wine
Powerhouse red - from your powerhouse winemaking couple
- This wine is big and bold with a whole lotta attitude. Dark and spicy flavor and a wickedly smooth finish. You'll slurp it up!
- ... We love this mix of Shiraz & Durif - aka, Petite Sirah - with a fancier Australian name. Durif is grown extensively in the land of Oz, because it loves a warm climate. All that sun gives this grape thick skins, packed with big, robust flavors.
- Australia makes this robust red extra-special. And thanks to your funding, Adrian and Rebecca were able to bring some over to the states - so you can introduce your friends to a brand-new bangin' wine!
Best before
It has the potential to cellar anywhere from 5-10 years, which will certainly reward.
Serving advice
Decant. Decant. Decant. Then decant some more. This baby is still just that... a baby! ItÂ’s only just been born, and itÂ’s got a long life ahead of it. Use a decanter if you have one, or just pour it into a large jug and give it a few good swirls over the course of an hour before serving. It will completely transform the wine. The oxygen helps to soften the tannins a little, bringing out those subtle (and not so subtle) complexities it has hiding away.
Food match
Anything rich, warming and hearty. Think beef stews, slow cooked anything, chili con carne, etc. Things along those lines are going to go down a treat with this wine. For something a little different, you might want to try it with some dark, bitter chocolate. It's an interesting pairing.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Adrian & Rebecca Santolin
Years Angel-funded: 2013-18
- Boy (Adrian) meets Girl (Rebecca) are a young couple, both passionate about wine. Adrian is the winemaker extraordinaire with over 15 years experience & Rebecca, the marketer extraordinaire, both live, breathe and love wine!
- For over 10 years, their dream was to one day make their own wine - fast forward to the present and they're now finally living that dream thanks to a kickstart from Angels. These days, they own and operate Santolin winery and make loads of wines for Angels in Australia.
- Taking a more European-styled approach to their stunning Yarra Valley wines, they love making anything a little funky, a little left of field and a little bit creative.
