About the wine
Vibrant Petit Verdot-based Aussie red
- This fresh, lively red is a blend of Petit Verdot and Carménère, packed with juicy dark fruits, violet aromas and an oh-so-smooth finish.
- Your funding helped Sam partner with a grapegrowing friend to craft this one-off easy-drinking red from vineyards in northern Victoria, where hot days help Petit Verdot develop a full, complex character Sam knows you'll love.
- Take Sam’s advice and pair this red with wood fired pizza, or sausages off the barbecue - or “barby”, as Sam calls it – and you’re golden!
Best before
This red has capacity to age for 2-4 years, but I think it's a delight to drink as a youngster for its pretty violet aromas and supple plush texture.
Serving advice
No need to decant this red. For best results, serve it at around 60-64ºF.
Food match
Keep it simple with this wine; wood fired pizza, or sausages off the barbecue - perhaps pork and fennel for the aniseed lift which will complement the violet and herbal character in the red.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Sam is one of our Australian All-Stars. He garnered lots of attention as the award-winning winemaker at Plunkett Fowles.
- But Plunkett Fowles hit rough waters and Sam wasn't sure he'd be able to stay in the wine business...until he became Angel funded. Your support put his startup on the map.
- Now Sam is off to the races – with the same dedication to quality winemaking that won so many accolades at Plunkett Fowles – and none of the bother about sales and marketing.
