About the wine
Crisp and light refresher with the perfect squeeze of flavor
- Sam snuck in all the lip-smacking flavors like summer-ripe peaches, apricots and a fresh squeeze of citrus. It's Australian sunshine in a bottle!
- And it's made from a top-tier estate Viognier vineyard in the Gourburn River Valley – thanks to you. "I'm gobsmacked we got access to this terrific fruit," he says. "And thanks to Angels, at a great price."
- Best food to pair with this versatile white? "Scallops, hands-down," Sam says. “Season some butter in a pan, sear each side for a minute or two, then enjoy with a chugalug of Viognier!” Not sure what chugalug means... but we're translating that to mean at least two bottles.
Best before
The wine has capacity to age for 2-3 years, but my preference is to drink it as a youngster for the freshness and lovely primary fruit.
Serving advice
Best around 50ºF - enjoy the lovely bright fruit!
Food match
Viognier is quite a versatile wine. It's an easy match with seafood or chicken, but a favorite of mine is seared scallops. Butter in the pan, salt and pepper, a minute or so to sear each side, then enjoy with a chugalug of Viognier!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Sam is one of our Australian All-Stars. He garnered lots of attention as the award-winning winemaker at Plunkett Fowles.
- But Plunkett Fowles hit rough waters and Sam wasn't sure he'd be able to stay in the wine business...until he became Angel funded. Your support put his startup on the map.
- Now Sam is off to the races – with the same dedication to quality winemaking that won so many accolades at Plunkett Fowles – and none of the bother about sales and marketing.
