About the wine
Bright, fruity and easy-sipping - Sam's Viognier is a must-try Australian white
- Sam’s rich and silky Australian white wine is steeped in bright, fresh, fruity flavors of ripe peach and apricot, backed by a delectable touch of citrusy orange blossom.
- With your support behind him, Sam sourced pristine grapes from a trio of vineyards sprinkled throughout South Australia, where Viognier develops big, bold, concentrated flavors.
- This delicate sipper is made to be enjoyed on arrival, but Sam says you can also stash a few bottles away and open them over the next year or two to taste how the flavors gracefully evolve.
Best before
The wine has capacity to age for 2-3 years, but my preference is to drink it as a youngster for the freshness and lovely primary fruit.
Serving advice
For best results, serve this white wine chilled at around 50ºF.
Food match
Viognier is quite a versatile wine. It's an easy match with seafood or chicken, but a favorite of mine is seared scallops. Butter in the pan, salt and pepper, a minute or so to sear each side, then enjoy with a chugalug of Viognier!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Sam is one of our Australian All-Stars. He garnered lots of attention as the award-winning winemaker at Plunkett Fowles.
- But Plunkett Fowles hit rough waters and Sam wasn't sure he'd be able to stay in the wine business...until he became Angel funded. Your support put his startup on the map.
- Now Sam is off to the races – with the same dedication to quality winemaking that won so many accolades at Plunkett Fowles – and none of the bother about sales and marketing.
