David Kohler Canopy Sonoma County Chardonnay 2018
About the wine
Barreled, buttery, classic and creamy Chardonnay - from a former Wine Advisor!
One of your first Wine Advisors got the chance to make the dreamy Sonoma Chardonnay he’s always wanted to make – all thanks to your votes and support! And he’s back with a NEW vintage that’s luxuriously rich, smooth, and full of ripe fruit.
David worked with Head Winemaker Franc Dusak to harvest the crème de la crème Chardonnay from the cool valleys of Sonoma, then fermented the wine and aged it in oak – which developed these vibrant fruity flavors and that bright and oh-so-supple creaminess.
Thanks to all you’ve done, Dave’s continued making a dream wine that reflects the sun-laden valley he calls home. Pop open a bottle of this refreshing Chard with a fresh cheese plate or scallops sauteed in butter, and give yourself a pat on the back for supporting your friend-turned-winemaker!
Best before
I say drink it now and often. However, if you can wait several years you will be well rewarded.
Serving advice
Take it out of the refrigerator, open it and enjoy!
Food match
Dishes like eggs benedict for example or even a steak béarnaise. Fine rich fish such as turbot, grilled veal chops with mushrooms, Late summer vegetables such as red peppers, corn, butternut squash and pumpkin (pumpkin ravioli and a rich Chardonnay is very good). Cheddar cheese. You can even drink a rich chardonnay with seared foie gras.
I would also pair this with some good company!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - David Kohler
- David Kohler is a Naked original. He joined our ranks back in 2012 and became the company's first Wine Advisor - he's the in-house expert on every Angel-funded wine you fund. (He's tasted through THOUSANDS of bottles!)
- We all knew David loved DRINKING wine. We just didn't know about his secret ambition to make it!
- We polled Angels to see if you wanted to make this beloved Wine Advisor your very own winemaker… and you’re incredibly smart, so you did! Thanks to you, David got to trade in a desk and a phone for a life at the winery... and he's not looking back.
