The wine is a brilliant, translucent vermillion in colo with a tinge of rust at the edge of the glass. The bouquet is huge: I’m thinking black rapberry with deeper cassis notes. In the initial flavor there are some terroir-based vegetal notes with a long raspberry presence, mid-palate. A very young and powerful wine, the alcohol, tannins and acidity are impatiently waiting to marry with the huge fruit presence. Yes, this 2022 vintage deserves a year or three in cellar but my wife and I really enjoyed it with crab cakes we made with Dungeness crabs we harvested that morning from the Pacific Ocean at the mouth of the Columbia. Life is good!
